organises the classic fair with the greatest success and most visitors of
the world for the 32th time. Organised as first great German car-salon for
vintage-cars, connoisseurs- and collector’s-vehicles in February 1989
it was, and is, an often copied, but never reached, example for a lot of other
events of this type. With constant model up-keeping measures it has kept its
pioneer role and even still extended – and, nevertheless, remained the unique original.
Its recipe for success:
To present to the visitors always the newest of the international
scene as selection of the best from all fields of the classic hobby.

As the undisputed leading trade exhibition in the classic car sector,
TECHNO CLASSICA will once again make its mark in 2022.

An accomplished club racer who had enjoyed some notable successes with his Cooper MG 1.5 litre sports racer 'JOY 500', London-based car dealer Cliff Davis decided to move up to the 2 litre class for the 1953 season. To this end he commissioned talented engineer John Tojeiro to design an all independently sprung chassis which could accommodate Bristol's tunable 2 litre engine. Bodied in the style of a contemporary Ferrari Barchetta by Eric Hall and Bill Rich, the resultant aluminium-skinned machine was road registered as 'LOY 500'. Well balanced and fast, the Tojeiro-Bristol had a magnificent season and even won the support race at the Dutch Grand Prix beating the 2 litre Maseratis.
Davis suggested to Tojeiro that the sports racer could form the basis of a production model and thus earn some money. Learning that AC Cars Ltd were looking for a project, Tojeiro took 'LOY 500' to the firm's Thames Ditton factory for evaluation. The Directors were impressed and could see a future in the design. Suitably evolved it debuted at the London Motor Show as the AC Ace (John Tojeiro being paid £5 per car in royalties).

Niet langer bereid om met een slechte auto in de Formule 1 te rijden,
stapte Lammers in 1983 over op de Sportcars.

De type 79 F1-wagen werd in 1978 ontworpen en gebouwd door Team Lotus.
Coureurs Mario Andretti 😇 en Ronnie Peterson 😇 domineerden dat jaar het F1-seizoen.
Andretti won het WK Coureurs en Team Lotus sleepte
voor de zevende keer deze titel voor teams in de wacht.
De type 79 ontketende een ware revolutie in het ontwerp van F1-wagens.
De welvende onderzijden van de sidepods, gecombineerd met flexibele skirts
die fungeren als afsluitingen, creëren een tunnel met venturiprofiel tussen
de wagen en het asfalt. Daardoor daalt de druk van de lucht die onder de wagen
passeert en ontstaat er een neerwaartse kracht. Wagens met dergelijke
aerodynamische eigenschappen aan de onderkant worden ingedeeld in de
'ground effect'-periode. Vergeleken met een wing heeft een venturi slechts
minimale invloed op de luchtweerstand.
‘Iets voor niets’
Colin Chapman 😇 noemde het ground effect ‘iets (neerwaartse kracht)
voor niets (weerstand)’. Grote neerwaartse kracht met lage weerstand
is de heilige graal voor F1-designers. Voor de zoveelste keer had Team Lotus
de lat hoger gelegd; nog wel met een 'oneerlijk voordeel',
omdat rivaliserende teams deze vernieuwing niet onmiddellijk konden
kopiëren. Met name Ferrari stuitte hierbij op problemen vanwege de vlakke
configuratie van zijn 12-cilindermotoren, die luchtstroomoptimalisatie onder
de wagen onmogelijk maakte. Motoren met 'V'-configuratie waren ideaal;
onbedoeld blies het ground effect de oudgediende maar perfect geprofileerde
Ford Cosworth DFV-motor nieuw leven in.
Chassisnummer 3 (van 5):
Mario Andretti’s 😇 belangrijkste chassis,
waarmee hij in zijn kampioensseizoen van 1978 zeven races reed.
Vier keer startte hij ermee op poleposition en hij behaalde er
de eerste plaats mee in Spanje, Frankrijk en Duitsland.

For example, the 75th anniversary of Ferrari will be the focus of
interest: since the presentation of the Ferrari 125 S in 1947, the first model under
this so melodious name, the Italian sports car manufacturer has already delighted
generations of automobile fans with enormously impressive models.
At TECHNO-CLASSICA, manufacturer Ferrari S.p.A., together with Eberlein
Automobile, officially awarded the Officina Ferrari Classiche label since 2017, will
celebrate great highlights from three quarters of a century. The focus will be on the
current Ferrari Roma, which elegantly plays with historical quotations. It will be
supported by, among others, a Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose and a Ferrari 250 GT
Cabriolet, both restored by Ferrari Classiche in Maranello. The increasingly
important subject of certificates of authenticity will also be presented.

The special exhibition of the organiser S.I.H.A. also has an Italian star. It is
dedicated to a major chapter in the history of the coachbuilder, small-series
producer and automobile developer Zagato, which was founded as early as 1919.
The presentation focuses on the six decades of cooperation between Aston
Martin and Zagato, which began in 1960 with the iconic DB4 GT Zagato and has
since produced a rare and fascinating variety of automotive styles. None other than
Andrea Zagato, the great-grandson of the founder who now runs the company in
Rho near Milan, has announced that he will be visiting TECHNO-CLASSICA. He will
be able to report on the projects that have resulted in the creation of small editions
of unique special models over the years.

Een schuivenmotor is een type viertaktmotor waarbij de inlaat-
en uitlaatkleppen zijn vervangen door schuivende plaatjes.
Een schuivenmotor heeft geen nokkenassen.
Het voordel van deze techniek is dan ook de geruisloze werking.
De schuiventechniek werd onder meer ingezet voor vliegtuigmotoren.
In de tweede wereldoorlog werd de Typhon (Tankbuster)
met een dergelijke motor uitgerust.
Een bekende fabrikant van schuivenmotoren (sleeve valve) was Knight.
De volgende autofabrikanten hebben schuivenmotoren ingezet:
het Engelse daimler leverde van 1908 auto's met schuivenmotor.
Mercedes leverde de Mercedes-Knight in de jaren 20.
Bij e motorfietsmerken produceerde Barr & Stroud schuivenmotoren,
die ook door sommige andere merken, als Beardmore, HT,PV
en Royal Scot werden toegepast.
Ook het Franse Voisin heeft schuivenmotoren gemaakt.
Voisin was ook vliegtuigfabrikant, de toepassing was dan ook logisch.
Panhard & Levassor heeft dergeljke motoren geleverd.
De eerste in 1909, de laatste in hun Dynamic uit 1938.
Willy Overland heeft de Silent Knight geproduceerd.
Deze auto werd zelfs door Sieberg in Amsterdam
ge-assembleerd.
